We have formed farmers association in 25 villages in which there are 376 farmers enrolled as members of it. These farmers are given training in organic agriculture, provided seeds and bio-pest and bio-fertilizers. Many farmers in the target area express their desire to switch over to organic farming.
We have identified the interested women from SHGs to undertake this programme and organized trainings to them in 3 batches consisting of 120 women in herbal cultivation and preparation of medicine for home remedies. This programme was sponsored by NABARD. These SHGs were trained in book keeping and accounts maintenance.
In the dawn of the 21st century, there is a fast growth of industrial sudden increase in and around Kanchipuram and Chennai region. We provided training to the women in nursery raising and floriculture programme in association with NABARD. The trained women are linked with banks and are establishing nurseries as group activities and supplying seedlings to the gardens developed by industries as well as educational institution. There is a lot of scope in promoting this trade and is commercially viable. The organization has got wide range of trainers in agriculture, horticulture and business development professionals.
We have entered into an agreement and established a permanent training centre in the heat of Kanchipuram Town with all the infrastructural facilities for conducting skill training and entrepreneurship development programmes. As a part of this we provided trainings in the following areas-nursery rising, basic computer operations, tailoring, organic manure, preparation of bio-pest and fertilizer etc. The organization is having very good rapport to provide support services to the new generation entrepreneurs.
This programme emphasizes the need to practice yoga and natural way of living in order to overcome the stress of the day-today life in the modern society. It is being implemented to different section of society like youth, women and children. It is supported by the National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN-Pune). Four programmes in a year will be organized covering at least 30-40 persons per programme. Registered naturopathy and yoga practitioners given their consent to attend these trainings on regular basis.
NEEADS is committed to the cause of protecting our natural resources and planet earth. It undertakes awareness programmes on global warming, climate change, desertification, solid waste management and action programmes like tree planting in school campuses, afforestation at Kalpakkam-along the coastal belt of Bay of Bengal, raising tree saplings, and distribution of seeds. In order to protect the natural resources, we are planning to undertake to utilize the rice husk ash in producing bricks and encouraging youth to undertake self-employment ventures in this trade. The rice husk ash is available on large scale in the district as by-product of modern rice mills, it is a dangerous pollutant of air, water and soil.
